Nora Jane was recently invited by American Songwriter Magazine and Martin Guitars to stop by their offices to play her new song “The South,” which they called “a dreamy, folky reflection on the meaning of ‘home'”, with her 1961 Martin 000-18 guitar. In its review, American Songwriter’s Jonathan Bernstein said that “[Wake] is brimming and bursting with life, with lessons learned and love discovered . . ..” The review goes on to compare its sounds, “at various points, like early Neko Case, the Jayhawks, and, most strikingly, Kathleen Edwards.”
